Last weekend was a big milestone for Unorthodox Streetwear — our first ever trade stand at Ultimate Stance.
It’s safe to say it was one of those days that tested us, taught us, and reminded us why we started this brand in the first place.
The day started early — too early, really.
Half our stock didn’t arrive before we left Suffolk, so we were detouring to pick it up at 8am on a Saturday. Not exactly the relaxed start we’d imagined.
By the time we got to the venue, the halls were already buzzing with the full show atmosphere. It was exciting, but also a bit overwhelming at first.
We’d gone in organised and ready, but once we started setting up, it hit us that our stand didn’t look as polished or professional as some of the more established brands around us. Still, we made the best of it. Every person who stopped by, every double-take at the logo, every conversation — it all felt like small proof that we’re building something real.
Sales-wise, it wasn’t the most profitable day — plenty of looks, not as many purchases — but that’s part of the learning curve. What really made the day worth it was the support from my friends. They helped set up, kept the energy high, and reminded me why it’s all worth doing. That sense of community and belief meant more than any number on the till.
Overall, our first trade stand wasn’t perfect, but it was a start — a solid one. We learned what to improve, what to bring next time, and how to better show off who we are.
For Unorthodox Streetwear, this was the first of many.
